Finding time to write.

The bane of my existence.

I’m sure this is a struggle for all authors unless you make enough financially to write as a career.

Goals.

However, for the rest of us indies, time is precious. School, kids, jobs, housework, errands, spouses, and the rest of the commotion life brings tend to drag us down and drain us.

Sometimes, by the time I turn on my laptop, with its terrible battery life and cracked screen (thank you, TSA), I hardly have the energy to edit, let alone write.

So, how do we combat this?

The answer differs for everyone.

Personally, I open texts or documents randomly throughout the day when inspiration strikes. Sometimes, I use the Word read-aloud feature to edit, and other times, I just enjoy a good bout of daydreaming during a drive to and from activities.

Don’t drain yourselves; remember, rest is essential. You will never write passionately without rest.

Sometimes, that might mean taking a step back, creating an effective time slot to write, or reducing the expectations of how much you’ll get done.

I have been guilty of having high expectations and setting deadlines that seemed realistic at the time but were anything but.

Word of advice, set deadlines that seem to be too far in the future, that way you don’t feel rushed or like a failure when the time approaches.

To all my lovely readers and other authors, take a breath and keep that passion.
